MEDIA PRIVATIZATION
10.8.2014 (Dnevnik, by N.N.) - Media established by the state, autonomous province or local self-autonomy are to submit within the next month the initiative for lauching the privatization procedure, according to the Law on Public Information and Media which will come into force on August 13, 2014.
According to the Law, these media outlets should submit to the Privatization Agency by September 13 the initiative for launching the privatization procedure. The Agency will pass the decision on the method of privatization within 90 days from the day of submitting the initiative.
The deadline for privatization of the media owned by the state, the autonomous province or local self-autonomy is July 1, 2015. As of that date financing media from public income will be banned.
