CALL FOR PRIVATIZATION of MORE THAN 60 MEDIA

16.8.2014 (Blic) - The Privatization Agency published yesterday a call for collecting letters of interest for the privatization of more than 60 media in Serbia. Deadline for state owned media, and media owned by the autonomous province and local self-autonomies is July 1, 2015.

As of that date financing media from public income will be bannedd. Instead, the principle of project-based funding of media content of public interest will be introduced. If the media are not privatized by the deadline, their capital will be transferred to the employees, without cost.

According to the Law on Public Information, media established by the state, the autonomous province or a local self-autonomy should submit the initiative for privatization by September 13.
