CRISIS IN MEDIA CONTINUES IN 2010?

Belgrade, October 22, 2009 (B92) - Professional journalists' associations, led by ANEM, warn of prolonged crisis in the media, with a slim chance of improved situation in 2010.

Although the majority of measures that the Serbian Government adopted have not yet been implemented, the government got a positive opinion. Out of 4 adopted, the Government has partially implemented only two measures in the last four months. It has secured the funds for co-financing of projects in the area of information; however, not a single contract has been signed with the successful applicants yet.

On the other hand, there are around a hundred illegal media still operating in Serbia, despite of foreseen termination of work of stations without broadcasting licenses.
