COOPERATION OF JOURNALISTS FROM BELGRADE AND PRISTINA
Belgrade, Pristina, May 10, 2011 (Danas) - "Being a journalist in Kosovo is not easy at all, especially for the past three years, since the proclamation of independence, because of the political and other pressures of interested parties", said Imer Mushkolaj, the president of the Association of Professional Journalists of Kosovo.
At the presentation of the project "The regional exchange and professional improvement of journalists from Belgrade and Pristina", in cooperation with NUNS, he said that the problems in journalists' profession were similar as in Serbia and that, according to the Freedom House, Kosovo was listed on the bottom in the region considering media freedoms.
Project Coordinator Branko Cecen explained that during one week, 15 journalists from Belgrade would visit newsrooms in Pristina, while their colleagues from Pristina would be in Belgrade for that time. The project aims to improve information channels between Kosovo and Serbia through the exchange of journalists and to provide a systematic introduction of Kosovo and Serbian journalists with the opportunities in these areas, to make contacts and increase the level of reporting with relevant education and training.
The implementation of the project is supported by the US embassy in Belgrade and Pristina.
