MONTENEGRIN SOCIALISTS ATTACK PHOTOGRAPHER

NIKSIC, May 21, 2002 - Journalists from the news magazine Monitor were physically assaulted in front of the Socialist People's Party headquarters in the Montenegrin town of Niksic, on the night of the local elections. Photographer Mensud Krpuljevic was surrounded and harassed by Socialist supporters while attempting to do his job. When the supporters pushed Krpuljevic inside the party headquarters, officials seized his film. Monitor has protested against the bullying behaviour. The Association of Montenegrin Professional Journalists described the incident in Niksic as supremely arrogant.
