PUBLIC DEBATE ON LUSTRATION

BELGRADE, May 22, 2002 - Belgrade academic Vladimir Vodinelic yesterday called for the lustration of journalists who employed hate speech or who reported their colleagues to State Security. Vodinelic, speaking at a public debate organised by the Independent Association of Serbian Journalists, emphasised that a distinction must be drawn been lustration and purges, adding that the aim of lustration was to prevent people with a record of human rights violations from assuming important state posts.
