Yu Info to Be Charged for Montenegrin Channels

BELGRADE, June 19, 2002 - A number of urgent questions have been raised by the Federal Government's announcement of the impending sale of the YU Info Channel television network. Most important for Montenegro is the issue of whether the future owner will resume what it regards as illegal transmissions from Yugoslav Army facilities . The director of the Agency for Telecommunications, Zoran Sekulic, emphasised that the network is operating entirely illegally and that "if it wants to change that it must apply for a licence". "We will treat them like the rest, but since they've been using frequencies in Montenegro up to now, they will have to pay for it," said Sekulic.
