Former RTS Director Jailed For Bomb Deaths

BELGRADE, June 24, 2002. - BELGRADE, Friday - Former Radio Television Serbia director Dragoljub Milanovic has been sentenced to ten years' imprisonment by Belgrade District Court. The sentence came after the court found he had recklessly endangered public safety by failing to evacuate the state media network's headquarters ahead of a NATO bomb attack in which sixteen employees were killed. His lawyer Branimir Gugl claimed in his closing statement that Milanovic had only followed orders from the government and the country's president.
