New Democracy Delays Broadcasting Act

BELGRADE, June 25, 2002 - A member of the working group drafting a new broadcasting act has criticised DOS member New Democracy for requesting it be pulled from parliament. "The proposal from New Democracy that political parties be allowed to establish radio and television stations is uncannily similar to the situation before October 5, 2000 when the SPS and Yugoslav Left created their own media empires," said Slobodan Djoric.
