BK TV Attacks Journalist

BELGRADE, July 17, 2002 - BK Telekom today issued a statement responding to material presented on the television program Utisak nedelje (Impression of the Week) and launched an attack on the program's editor and presenter, Olja Beckovic. Beckovic, who produces the show as a co-production of Mreza and Studio B television, recently filed a legal complaint against BK TV for violation of her copyright in the program Maska. Claiming that Maska breaches her registered copyright of the Utisak Nedelje program concept, Beckovic demanded is seeking compensation of eight million dinars. Commenting on BK TV's statement, Yugoslav Information Secretary Slobodan Orlic told media that he was against the abuse of broadcasting companies for private purposes.
