Key Media Legislation Needed

BELGRADE, October 18, 2002 – The lack of systematic media laws in Serbia is one of the major obstacles to the freedom of public information as the necessary basis of the process of democratising the country, participants in a seminar this week agreed. The seminar, held in the Rex Cultural Centre, was organised to mark the two-day conference on libel and freedom of speech which began in the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg.
