New Round of Attacks on B92

BELGRADE, October 6, 2002 -- Thousands of posters have appeared in Belgrade overnight carrying a photograph of B92 editor-in-chief Veran Matic, together with B92's logo and the slogan "Caught out in theft". The posters appear to be the continuation of a campaign of false accusations against the company repeatedly broadcast over the past week by RTV Pink. A number of senior government figures have made statements this week asserting that the accusations are without justification. B92 has today laid a complaint for unauthorised use of the company logo and false accusation under Article 92 of the Serbian Criminal Code. It is hoped that investigation of the complaint will lead to the identification of the, so far, anonymous authors of the allegations.
