RTV Sokobana Director Denies Political Dismissal

BELGRADE, November 13, 2002 – The director of RTV Sokobanja, Vesna Blagojevic, today denied reports that journalist Danijela Vasilijevic had been fired from the station for political reasons. “Danijela Vasilijevic was employed on a temporary contract by RTV Sokobanja,” said the director, adding that Vasilijevic had not been dismissed but that her contract had expired. Vasilijevic claims to have been dismissed because she stood for the Democratic Party of Serbia in local government elections in the town.
