Djelic and media agree tax policy erroneous

BELGRADE, 15 May, 2003 – Serbian Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic and print media editors-in-chief have agreed that the current tax policy for daily and weekly publications in Serbia is not in accordance with the EU and the standards of other transitional countries. During a Serbian Government meeting, media representatives promised to submit proposals for a new solution to this problem to the finance ministry by the end of the week. The government announced that a meeting has been planned for next week, at which time a final solution regarding the media tax is to be reached. Sales tax on press not in line with EU standards.
