If mafia can keep in touch so can media
BELGRADE, 9 June, 2003 -- A roundtable meeting entitled "Crime, corruption and media" was attended by independent media editors and NGO representatives from Bosnia-Hercegovina and Serbia-Montenegro yesterday. The attendants of the gathering, organised by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, assessed that if mafia members from the former Yugoslavia have managed to maintain contacts then it is up to the media to do likewise in order to aid the fighting of corruption and organised crime. The participants also assessed that, despite the greater risks involved, this course of action would aid professionalism and responsibility.
