"Illegal election of Cekic, Cvetkovic and Radenovic "

BELGRADE, 17 July, 2003 – A group of non-governmental organisations has assessed that the Serbian Parliament “broke the law” when it re-elected Broadcast Agency Council members Nenad Cekic, Vladimir Cvetkovic and Goran Radenovic. According to a statement singed jointly by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, the Civil Initiative and the people’s movement Otpor, "An illegal procedure is always illegal, even if it is elected by the highest representative body". The NGO group has also announced that it will not participate in the election of the Council member who is to take the place of Vladimir Vodinelic, nominated by the NGO sector and subsequently resigned.
