EU suspends assistance to Broadcast Council

BELGRADE, August 27, 2003 – The European Agency for Reconstruction and the European Commission have decided to temporarily suspend financial assistance intended for Serbia’s Broadcast Agency Council, the Commission’s Belgrade spokesman, Aleksandar Djordjevic said today. The decision was taken because of the Commission’s dissatisfaction with the way in which the Council members were elected, Djordjevic told media. The two bodies had earmarked assistance of 300,000 euros for technical equipment and operating expenses for the Council
