Judge fails to front for trial

BELGRADE, September 10, 2003 – Judge Milica Trbovic-Svilaric failed to attend a scheduled hearing in the First Municipal Court yesterday of a damages claim filed by journalist Milovan Brkic. Brkic is seeking fifteen million dinars (about 230,000 euros) for damage to his honour and reputation. Brkic was accused in the Third Municipal Court on April 14 of having disseminated false information about Interior Minister Dusan Mihajlovic in Podgorica daily Dan during Serbia’s state of emergency. The case has been adjourned to March next year.
