KURIR’S EQUIPMENT SEIZED

BELGRADE, June 16, 2005 – The Serbian Taxation Office has confiscated equipment of the Belgrade daily Kurir, under the order of the Finance Minister. The Taxation assessors from the Stari Grad branch office have visited yesterday the premises of Kurir in Vlajkoviceva Street in Belgrade down town, with the order to settle the debt of six million dinars (close to 75 thousand euros) of this daily as the last year’s audit. Kurir had already paid 1.650.000 dinars (20.300 euros) on the day of the requisition, and competent personnel of the daily gave written declaration that the outstanding amount would be settled within the legal deadline of three days. However, the taxation office has refused, and launched immediate confiscation of the property.
