CHARGES AGAINST KANDIC AND MATIC

BELGRADE, June 29, 2005 – Deputy President of the Serbian Radical Party Tomislav Nikolic has filed a libel complaint to the Serbian Public Prosecutor against several persons, Director of the Humanitarian Law Center Natasa Kandic and Editor-in-chief of RTV B92 Veran Matic among them, for disseminated false information. Humanitarian Law Center director Kandic claimed earlier that Nikolic was involved in the crime over civilians in Croatian village Antin in 1991. Legal representative of B92 Slobodan Kremenjak said that everyone has the right to bring legal complaint if convinced that the criminal act had been committed, adding that the reaction of the appropriate authorities was important, and not the filing of the complaint: “We’ll have something to say only when the Prosecution decides on the complaint. For the moment, we do not have any comments, because neither B92, nor Veran Matic has been notified of the official reaction from appropriate authorities. All we know, we’ve heard in the media”, said Kremenjak.
