ADULT SCENES ON MONTENEGRIN TV ONLY LATE AT NIGHT

PODGORICA, July 5, 2005 – Starting from today, all Montenegrin electronic media are prohibited to broadcast programs that can be damaging to children before eleven p.m. Advertisements, commercials or films which could affect psychological, social, moral and intellectual development of a child, have been banned by the Bylaw on advertising and sponsorship, recently adopted by the Broadcast Agency. The Bylaw contains provisions on penalties for electronic media for not respecting the rules for advertising and sponsorship. Several workshops for the representatives of the media have been organized so far, with the aim of the experts to provide valuable information on the children’s perception of electronic media. Children are usually very suggestible and influenced easily by the programs of the electronic media, which can negatively affect their overall development.
