WHO WILL GET RTV PRISTINA?
PRISTINA, July 28, 2005 – The Kosovo parliament has adopted seven new laws, including one which pays special attention to who has the rights to Radio Television Pristina. Explaining the motives behind the law, Deputy Prime Minister Adem Saljihaj said that this law will enable RTV Pristina to bring its programming in accordance with international standards on information, education and entertainment for all Kosovo citizens, adding that the television station will be becoming a public service created from all former property of RTV Pristina. “Of course, the law does not determine on what territory or in what buildings this all will be located, but by legal principles, it is stated that the property, regardless of whether it is located on the territory or not, is still considered property. It is not precisely stated in the law, but it is understood that the law counts for property that is located beyond the borders of Kosovo, and all of RTV Pristina’s property will be given to whoever receives it in the end, in this case, Radio Television Kosovo. I believe that all legal principles will be put into effect like they were in all other cases of property owned by Kosovo companies outside of the territory, on the territory of the former Yugoslavia and beyond, which in turn must be regulated by new agreements for the exchange of property so that all property would be given to the rightful owner”, Saljihaj said.
