RADICALS THREATENED REPORTER

VRANJE, September 7, 2005 - A reporter and editor of the news programme on Vranje's OK Radio station Sasa Stojkovic says that he has been threatened by two members of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS). Stojkovic says that the two SRS members abused him verbally in the municipal assembly of Vranje and also threatened to beat him. "Bratoljub Djordjevic impudently and arrogantly told me at the last local assembly session that I deserved good bashing and that it was high time I got it, because of my reports, whereas Dragan Manic haughtily promised that it would happen very soon", said Stojkovic. He says that on the same day, right after the incident during the local assembly session, he asked for Nenad Stosic's help, the President of the municipal assembly, but even four days after the session got no return information from him. "I also turned to the President of the municipal SRS board and chief of the board group in the local parliament Novica Stanojevic, and told him that I did not want to carry this incident over to the police. His response was that it was the best place, because they had the right connections there", said Stojkovic. The ruling coalition in Vranje comprises SRS, Socialist Party of Serbia, DSS and G17 plus.
