ONE THIRD DOES NOT RESPECT LAW

BELGRADE, September 9, 2005 - Around 60 percent of institutions on a local and republic level, which is one third of people, do not implement the Law on Free Access to Information. The research of the "Transparentnost Srbija" organisation shows that the number of institutions ready to fulfil their obligations based on that regulation is not increasing fast, the TS programme director Nemanja Nenadic says. He said that the research was conducted in June and that he hoped that in the meantime the situation had been changed and that the establishment of the institution of Public Information Commissioner could improve the situation.
