TENDER FOR FRENQUENCES IN 2006

CACAK, September 10, 2005 - Culture and Information Minister Dragan Kojadinovic said the tender for frequency allocation could be called in the period between March and June next year. Kojadinovic told media at the press conference in Uzice that the final decision on the matter would be made by the Broadcast Council as an independent regulatory body. He also said that the conditions for regulating the chaotic state of the Serbian had been created, adding that "ironically, this chaos multiplied since the moratorium on frequency allocation has been introduced". The culture minister noted that the amendments to the media legislations would speed up the privatisation of the local media in Serbia and added that up until now, the Government of Serbia has approved the privatisation of five local newspapers.
