JOURNALIST, HUNTERS AND A WILD BOAR

KURSUMLIJA, September 27, 2005 – Journalist Ljiljana Danilovic has taken a cross action against the Association of Hunters, which had accused her earlier of killing a wild boar. The Hunters’ Association “Soko” from Kursumlija had accused B92 and Beta journalist Danilovic for poaching, bringing the case to the court. The Kursumlija Municipal Court has resumed the proceedings today. Danilovic was charged for driving into and killing a wild boar on the main road Nis-Pristina. The Hunters’ Association filed a complaint against her, demanding damage compensation of 220.000 dinars (around 2,600 Euros). The court interrogated witnesses today, while the expert of the defense, the international trophy judge Dragos Pavicevic, said that Ljiljana Danilovic was not guilty because the boar hit her vehicle from a side. “Also, the claim of the hunters’ association is groundless since the animal was not a throphy game”, said Dragos Pavicevic. The journalist has filed a counter claim against the association and compensation claim for damage on her vehicle. “Since the Association of Hunters from Kursumlija practically admitted with their complaint that the wild boar belonged to their organisation, I think that they are liable to pay the damages on my vehicle estimated on 223,000 dinars. That part of the road does not have any warning signs indicating the vicinity of hunting grounds or wild animals”, said Ljiljana Danilovic.
