UNNECESSARY CONFUSION

BELGRADE, October 27, 2005 – The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance Rodoljub Sabic says certain new acts make the Free Access to Information Act senseless. Sabic appealed to the Serbian Government saying that the Bill on Offences, which entered the parliamentary procedure short after the Bill on Police, was in contradiction to the Free Access to Information Act, casting the doubt and challenging the Act. “Like similar laws in the world of democracy, our legislation envisages that the citizen requesting the information does not need to provide proof for such his interest. Certain provisions of the Bill on Police and Offences create unnecessary confusion and open the possibilities for limiting the citizens’ rights”, said Sabic.
