TV SUBSCRIPTION FOR COMPANIES NOT IN LINE WITH EUROPEAN STANDARDS

BELGRADE, November 19, 2005 - Aleksandar Tijanic, RTS General Manager forwarded to the Serbian Parliament the initiative for the changes and amendments to the Broadcast Act (Article 81, paragraph 5). According to suggested changes, legal persons, owners of radio and television receivers, should not be paying the subscription fee for every 20 employees, as it was envisaged by the Broadcast Act, but the subscription fee should be collected by the number of receivers owned by legal persons. RTS would not apply criterion of the number of employees until the adoption of the changes, it was said in RTS statement. “All legal entities should pay the subscription according to the number of radio and TV receivers they own”, said in the statement. During the weekend Belgrade daily Danas dealt with numerous complaints which they had received by the owners of various companies regarding the RTS subscription fee.
