ATYPICAL PRIVATISATION

BELGRADE, November 23, 2005 – Dragan Bosiljkic from the Privatisation Agency said that “only around ten percent of media are property owners”. “The media are generally the owners of the equipment, but they operate in state-owned premises”, said Bosiljkic, predicting “very atypical” process of privatisation of the media. “There is very little risk that new owners would change the business structure of the company, because they would by the media for influence and profit. There won’t be overstaffing of journalists. Most likely only the supporting departments would be overstaffed. Anyhow, the selling/buying contracts would envisage social security programs”, said Bosiljkic.
