JOURNALISTS IN GREECE STOP WORK FOR A DAY

ATHENS, November 25, 2005 – Greek journalists went on a 24-hour strike yesterday in defense of employment rights. "People have an unrealistic image in their heads of how journalists work," said Athens Union of Journalists leader Panos Sombolos. "The reality is that they work endless hours, have no time to see their families and are not rewarded for it." The Greek daily newspaper will not come out tomorrow. This is not the first such strike of Greek journalists and media staff. Last year, Athens and Thessalonica were left without the daily print, radio and TV programs for one day.
