DRAFT VERSION OF CODE OF ETHICS

BELGRADE, December 30, 2005 – The Committee of the Association of Serbian Journalists (UNS) and Association of Independent Serbian Journalists (NUNS) has concluded the Draft of the Journalism Code of Ethics. Both associations said their “mutual strive was to produce a unique code of ethics for journalists which would be adopted by the wide public”. The committee has recommended to both professional associations to organize the meeting with the chief editors of the most influential media in Serbia to assess the proposed document. This committee, consisted of Dimitrije Boarov, Dragan Janjic, Miroslav Pusic and Nino Brajovic, proposed that once the unique Code was adopted, the Media Council should be formed. With this, according to the committee, the favorable conditions would be made for implementation of the Code and improvement of the professional and ethical standards in Serbian journalism.
