COUNCIL WITHOUT INTEGRITY

BELGRADE, April 28, 2006 – Belgrade Human Rights Center voiced its concern over the atmosphere of making and enforcing decisions which would define the future media sphere in Serbia and seriously affect the freedom of media, freedom of speech and democratic transition of the society. “An arrogant approach to the candidates competing for the national frequency and mid-night police raids simply do not contribute to the integrity of the Broadcast Agency and its Council, legally appointed and authorized to decide on the allocation of frequencies to radio and TV stations and application of adequate sanctions”, said in the statement.
