G17 PLUS FAVORS BROADCASTING LAW DEBATE

BELGRADE, August 29, 2006 (B92) - G17 Plus will propose that the parliament opens a public debate on the Broadcasting Law. The party’s member of parliament Suzana Grubješić said that the European Commission letter, demanding for the expert community to debate the law, is the first document objecting the amendments to the law to reach the parliament. “The OSCE also had their objections, but we read them in the media, nothing officially arrived to the parliament. It was an emergency vote and we, as members of parliament, did not have sufficient information, but it’s never too late for quality changes and amendments”, she said. Suzana Grubješić, vice-chairwoman of the parliamentary Council for European Integrations, could not specify whether the G17 Plus members of parliament refuse to vote for the law in question, if their request for a public debate is not granted. President Tadić earlier refused to sign the Broadcasting Law.
